Underwriter - Professional Liability

Canopy Specialty Insurance is currently hiring an experienced Underwriter to join our Professional Liability Team.  As an underwriter, you will work closely with our Professional Liability Senior Underwriters in the review and analysis of our targeted classes of business from our appointed wholesale partners.

Location: Remote

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Analyze risk data of proposed insureds to identify hazards and exposures for individual risks.

• Analyze and price coverage, structure, and exposures for individual risks.

• Build and expand the business portfolio by developing and maintaining relationships with brokers to facilitate a flow of desirable business.

• Apply underwriting techniques within guidelines and rating plans to accommodate diverse account sizes and operations.
   

​In this role, you will be responsible for:

• Underwriting and pricing a new and renewal book of business.

• Identifying and analyzing new growth opportunities.

• Ensuring that accounts are qualified, meet with the organization's appetite and are balanced with sound business opportunity.

• Overseeing negotiations of Terms & Conditions and closing deals.

Qualifications, Skills & Competencies

• A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in underwriting professional liability business.

• Insurance industry knowledge.

• Expertise in professional liability insurance with Small and Middle Market accounts experience strongly preferred.

• Excellent analytical and communication skills.

• Multi-tasking skills.

• Ability to travel, if needed.

Salary: $75,000 - $120,000​

Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.
