Accountant:

The individual will assist in the daily management and oversight of all accounting functions within the company.  The individual will assist in the growth of the company and will be an essential part in developing the accounting department in terms of operational functionality, as well as staffing personnel. The individual will also provide insight into the company’s technology focused capabilities and will also assist in the company's streamlining and automated initiatives to its operational and business processes.

The ideal candidate will hold their CPA qualification, have detailed insurance experience, preferably within the Commercial Property & Casualty space, and be a self-motivated, results driven individual with excellent interpersonal skills.

Principle Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the oversight of all accounting and finance functionalities and governance.

  • Contact person for accounting and finance requests.

  • Responsible for collection of risk premium, fees and commission and remittance.

  • Responsible for month-end, quarter-end and fiscal year-end closing and subsequent reporting.

  • CEO and management report preparation and delivery.

  • Monthly dashboard reporting.

  • Assist with company tax requirements and subsequent filings/returns.

  • Prepare and review account reconciliations and account analysis across all company operations.

  • Responsible for company accounts.

  • Involvement in company internal audit process and external audit from underwriting partners.

  • Consistently monitor and review accounting and operational processes and implement changes where required.

  • Provide risk assessment from an accounting and finance perspective.

  • Work closely with other support teams on various projects and on ad-hoc basis, such as I.T, Operations, Compliance.

  • Consistently evaluate internal processes, systems and controls.

Principle Job Requirements:

  • Detailed accounting knowledge with the initiative and insight of remaining up to date on accounting and regulatory requirements.

Principle Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance.

  • CPA Required.

  • At least 5 years’ accounting experience.

  • Insurance industry experience required.

  • Expert proficiency in accounting software and applications.

  • Expert proficiency in Microsoft applications, particularly Excel and Word.

Professional Liability Underwriter:

The Professional Liability Underwriter will be responsible for underwriting, producing, and binding business for a Commercial Property & Casualty Managing General Underwriter (MGU) insurance firm.  Owned by a thirty-year old Parent Group, the MGU is building a traditional and technology focused business, utilizing state of the art systems, to better price and manage risk, while providing superior customer service to brokers and carrier partners alike.

The Underwriter will assist in the growth of the Professional Liability book and will be essential in assisting with building a profitable portfolio of business, focusing on Errors & Omissions exposures within; Architects and Engineers, Miscellaneous Professional, and Insurance Brokers/Agents lines.

The Underwriter will also provide insight into the company’s planned technology focused capabilities and will also assist in the company’s streamlining and automated initiatives to its underwriting and business processes.

The ideal Underwriter will have a solid Professional Liability background, producing strong underwriting results, and have excellent distribution partner relationships.

Principle Responsibilities:

  • Underwriting, producing, and binding Professional Liability business on a nationwide basis.

  • Achieving premium writings while producing a profitable book of Professional Liability business.

  • Developing, maintaining, and servicing broker relationships.

  • Originating new business with brokers and servicing the renewal book.

  • Working collaboratively in a team environment with underwriters, underwriting assistants, support teams and management.

  • Providing high quality service to brokers and carrier partners.

  • Maintaining thorough compliance of underwriting & rating guidelines, operational procedures, and local & federal laws.

Principle Job Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of Professional Liability underwriting experience which should focus on Architects and Engineers, Insurance Brokers/Agents, and Miscellaneous Professional Errors & Omissions Lines.

  • Experience of producing a profitable book of business to carrier partners.

  • Strong broker relationships.

  • Deliver excellent customer service by responding promptly to broker and carrier partner queries.

  • Strong computer skills, especially within various underwriting tools and systems, and Microsoft platforms.

  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Highly organized with excellent attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
